Segway PT Safety Learning to ride and effectively use the Segway PT is easy and fun. New riders generally acquire the "Segway smile" within the first five minutes and are required to complete a comprehensive orientation and training program. Training and implementation is especially critical in a corporate environment where multiple users and varied operational situations are encountered. Consistency in training is emphasized with standardized operational procedures taught by certified Segway PT instructors to insure safety in the workplace. We will design and implement certified training programs with classroom instruction alongside practical demonstrations for all users. We also have the capability to train and certify your employees or staff so that your organization will become self sufficient when orienting new users.
Interesting Fact The Segway PT has no brakes yet has a shorter stopping distance than a bicycle
"The Segway’s braking distance of 3.1 m (10 ft) was the second shortest among devices; only manual wheelchairs had a shorter braking distance (1.7 m (6 ft)). It was also about half that of bicycles and hand cycles"
"Segways were observed to decelerate faster (4.7 m/sec ˛ (16 ft/sec˛)) than other user types. This is perhaps surprising, considering that Segways are not equipped with brakes; to stop the device, the user straightens up from the leaning position. Recumbent bicycles had the second fastest deceleration rate, 4.0 m/sec ˛ (13 ft/sec˛)"
